Professional  Journey

Shawn has 20+ years in a variety of business leadership roles which have led to robust skill development across a broad range of functional areas including organizational management, career development, change management, P&L management, HR, marketing, vision casting, mission alignment, research based - outcome driven results, grant writing, continuous improvement, new program development as well as being a polished public speaker and presenter. 

Shawn's professional journey includes working at Cornell University at the Livingston County Extension office as a Director of afterschool programming. He has earned Cornell University certifications in Supervisor Development, Family Development, and Positive Youth Development. Shawn authored several grants while at Cornell and successfully expanded programs into multiple school districts. 

Shawn spent several years as an Executive Recruiter in the high tech industry with Fortune 100 clients including; Accenture, Aricent, Cognizant, Frog Design, HCL, Statera, and Wipro. His work at Cornerstone included recruiting Higher level Management, Sales and Technical profiles including VP's, AVP's, Directors, Managers, Master Architects, Chief Architects, Principal and Sr Consultants, Engagement Managers, Program Managers, Client Partners with a focus on Corporate Strategy and Business Strategy folks (both internal and external management consulting) as well as a variety of individual contributor sales roles (Geography, Territory, Overlay, Solution Sales, Hunter, Account Manager etc).. 

Shawn started a nonprofit in Dansville NY, called the Dansville Community Center in 2013. Being an avid grant writer Shawn has won over 6 million in grants to support the work of the center. The center operates many programs; afterschool, parenting education, scouts, food pantry, summer recreation, vacation clubs, soccer, basketball, pickleball, karate and many more. 

Hobbies and Interests

Shawn enjoys fishing, hiking, skiing, and traveling. He is an avid recording engineer and producer as well as guitarist. Shawn designed and installed recording studios at Houghton College as well as several private business studios. He also loves model trains.

Courses

  • MKTG 331: Marketing
    A study of the principles, concepts, and managerial policies pertaining to the marketing function within organizations. This course will focus upon the total quality management of the marketing function; consumer behavior; market research and information systems; policies pertaining to product and service development, pricing, promotion, physical distribution and sales; and the external marketing environment (e.g., law and ethics, globalization, technological change, and demographic diversity in the marketplace).

  • MKTG 334: Advertising and Promotion Management
    An in-depth study of the fundamentals of promotion management and marketing communications. Topics include the consumer behavioral foundations of marketing communications, sales management and personal selling, advertising, sales promotion, public relations, publicity, and the role of integrated marketing communications in marketing management and total quality management.

  • MKTG 341: Consumer Behavior
    This course provides an in-depth study of consumer buying behavior from a marketing perspective. Consumer behavior is the study of individuals, groups or organizations and the processes they use to select, secure, use and dispose of products, services, experiences, or ideas to satisfy needs and the impacts that these processes have on the consumer and society. All marketing decisions and applications are based on assumptions about buyer behavior. This course will provide the student with buyer behavior concepts and theories and provide opportunities to apply the learnings to marketing strategy development and business problem resolution.

  • MGMT 300: Organizational Behavior
    A study of theories of organizational culture, behavior, and design. This course will focus upon individual behavior within groups and organizations; leadership and decision-making within organizations; organizational culture and design; group dynamics, total quality, and demographic diversity issues within organizations; and various macro-environmental influences on organizations, e.g. technology, ethical issues, global considerations, and environmental demographic diversity.
